At MCE, this isn’t just about recovery. It’s about family. It’s about community. It’s about standing shoulder to shoulder with people we know, love, and live beside. We fight hard, love hard, and never forget why we started this… To make sure NO ONE faces this alone.
We’re not a distant corporation parachuting in with empty promises. We’re locals. Angelenos. People who’ve walked the same streets, stood on the same lots, and felt the same heartbreak. Some of us have lost homes. Others have watched friends and family lose everything. This is personal for us and that’s exactly why we’re here.
We’re getting you connected to the community friends and neighbors that can take on navigating complex class action lawsuits, coordinating rebuild efforts, and sourcing reliable materials. We’re doing the heavy lifting right beside you, making the same hard calls, vetting every contractor and team member like we would for our own families. No shortcuts. No compromises. We know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed by the process, the permits, the insurance, the pressure to sell and walk away. But we believe in your right to stay, to rebuild, and to reclaim what was taken with dignity and pride.
The Palisades fire didn’t just take homes, it took livelihoods. My restaurant’s income was cut in half overnight. Rent went unpaid. On Saturday, February 1st, the doors were locked. I could have let the depression and worry take over, let it all end there. But the Friday night before we closed, two guests, Rita and Jay showed me something I’ll never forget.
Rita was full of life, telling me how she was going to rebuild her home, how this disaster wouldn’t bring them down. She had salvaged blue tiles from the remains of her chimney and planned to put them on her new front door. In that moment, watching her transform devastation into hope, I found my purpose.
Then Zeke Hindle stepped in. Zeke is woven into the very fabric of our community a local attorney, tennis pro, actor, and producer who has gone through this disaster in every way imaginable. He’s loved by so many because he genuinely cares. Without knowing what he was truly doing, Zeke saved me by giving me the opportunity to direct MCE as a nonprofit. He saw something in me when I couldn’t see it in myself, and pivoted my path from personal loss to community service. That’s when I knew MCE had to be more than a business, it had to be a lifeline.
Through years of building relationships in this community, I’ve formed genuine friendships with some of the nation’s most accomplished professionals—elite attorneys, master contractors, visionary architects, renowned designers, influential moguls, A-list celebrities, and media executives. These aren’t just business contacts; they’re neighbors, friends, people who share meals at the same tables and care about the same community.
When disaster strikes, these connections become lifelines. I’m calling on every friendship, every favor, every relationship I’ve built to bring the absolute best resources to your doorstep. Not because it’s good business, but because it’s the right thing to do for people we call family.
Rita’s blue tiles remind me every day that from the ashes of loss, we can build something beautiful again. Together.
With all our hearts,
Dylan Hernandez & The MCE Family
